A Community for Swinburne University (Sarawak Campus)
I have been trying to make some time to do the first post on this blog for the last couple of days (in fact almost a week) ….and finally today is the day – May 12th 2008, my computer tells me its 9:20 AM but I know my clock is actually 10 minutes fast, so that I’m not late for my classes…(But it doesn’t really work for me though…Sigh~)
Anyway, I’m not sure what I’m gonna write today as its kind of early and I’m ‘very hungry’! But I guess I’ll be able to survive until the next few lines that I write.. Firstly exam is almost ‘knocking on the door’ which kind of reminds me of a song – ‘knock, knock knockin’ on Heaven’s door….’ for no apparent reason :S Well the exam is going to start from 9th of June (Just 2 days after my birthday Wow) and ‘our trial’ continues until 19th if I’m not mistaken. Best of Luck to all!
OK, now what is this website all about? Well the main objective of coming up with a ‘blog’ for Swinburne students is pretty straight forward — “Enhance Communication + Broaden Your Network of Friends”. I am well aware that several ‘other’ online mediums has been tried in past – with or without success. I’m not in the liberty to discuss about their ’short life span’ & the reason of discontinuation… However what I can really say is, It is absolutely necessary for us (as students) to have some sort of communication channel, online. And I believe blog can be a part of that channel. When swinburne actually reaches their target of 5000 Students, the current university life is going to change even a lot more. You will be getting ‘less personal attention’ from people around you as everyone is just going to be ‘really busy’!
Our goal is to get bloggers within Swinburne (Students & Staffs) and give them access to this blog so that they can start contributing (in terms of writing, of course =) whenever they can. So this way we can get the latests news of Swinburne and the updates of our schoolmates & friends….all in one place. If you don’t wish to write you can always participate in discussion by leaving ‘comments’ on the posts. (To avoid Spammers, All comments will be moderated & you will need to register yourself first).
Now would you like to blog here? If you do, simply shoot a small email to – info[at]swintalk.com and we will get you set up for blogging.
So tell your friends about this blog and lets spread the news virally! You can also do a small blog ‘post’ on your own blog about this website and to show our appreciation we will feature your blog URL in our blogroll section which will be seen by hundreds of other Swinburners once they visit our site. We also plan to have lots of online contest & hopefully will be able to give away tons of prizes. So would you like to make any of the box yours? Then start writing comments or blog for Swintalk.com. You can blog about practically anything and it doesn’t really need to be anything to do with ’studies’ or ’swinburne’. There will be separate categories for each ‘type’ of posts so you will get the flexibility to write about almost everything. But we would encourage you to write more about your ’student life’ and also about things that you feel will interest other readers of SwinTalk.com.
OK! This post is becoming way to long, so I’ll just end this post with a short video clip that I made with some of old photos that I found in my laptop. Well technically all the photos are from SSSC Term 2006…. I really miss all the activities that we used to have in swinburne…I am hoping we will see more of these in future.
Have a nice day and thanks for supporting SwinTalk.com! Hope to see you here again..
