It was possible thanks to the suggestions made in SSSC council’s forum and also many supports from the students themselves. Being one of the winner(2nd) myself with a new recruited veteran team, it proofs our standards in Sarawak with many great players that came far out from the top16 bracket. Thanks for Cyberline Cyber Cafe’s endorsement and for Swinburne to approve the first epic e-sports event ever!

Here is the panoramic big group photo of all the scholarship awards receivers including the very familiar and tall Professor Helmut Lueckenhausen happened today. If there is any trouble viewing the picture, please let know.

I’m not a fan of panorama pictures but it was the only solution because I don’t have a wide angle lens. It’s just the circular panoramic perspective that doesn’t fit my taste. However, looking at the details and the pictures were taken at aperture of 5, I’m impressed*Hugs my Tammy lens*. Too bad some of the guys’ face at the most behind row were blocked by some of the guys on the second row. 

I was invited by the sweeeet PR officer Ms Veronica to cover the event. It was tiring as usual when comes to event coverage photography even though it last for about two hours. Didn’t took much photos, most of them are the prize receiving portraits so not much photos to share in the blog here.

Congrastulations to those who received their awards today!

As usual, our university will always have talks about the course they are offering for our visitors during their Open Day.

One thing that is different during this Open Day compare to previous ones is this:

I remembered last time when I first visited Swinburne during their Open Day back in 2006 when I just finished my SPM, there was free Nescaffe! But redbull is better XD

Anyway, the place is fully ventilated by the centralized air-con, so its cool inside there, except certain time where its cold.

The MPH has allocated time and session for which sports would be allowed, which one can find it on the left of the wall when you enter the hall from the main front entrance. Its a piece of paper pratically stuck to the wall.

Overall, the place is great, with rubberized floor like Sports Arena.

And like Johnson Woon would say, “Hey, how come got wind one in the hall ar?”. That was when he missed the shuttlecock. Hope to see you all there using it.

PS: They gym is kinda cool too. Bigger. And we now have LCD TVs. 32″ of pure widescreen.

But now Microsoft has also joined the battle zone with Internet Explorer 8 (Beta 2), and IE looks rock solid once again.

Internet Explorer 8 looks more elegant and easier to use, while adding many of the missing features. The brand-new implementation of Standards mode in Internet Explorer 8 offers the best viewing experience of web pages created according to the some of the latest web standards. That means many of the web pages that include code custom tailored for IE won’t look very good, so you need to enable a compatibility view (for some reason, intranet sites are rendered in the compatibility mode by default).

IE has brought several CSS improvements, support for data URIs, AJAX enhancements and support for DOM storage. Internet Explorer 8 has added support for suggestions in the search box and this feature is no longer restricted to Live Search. Microsoft lists many search providers that can be added: Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia and others.

Another cool feature that should have been added to IE7 is inline search: now you can search inside a page from an elegant bar similar to the one from Safari, Google Chrome & Firefox. 

IE8 includes a security feature that will be rarely used for non-adult sites: private browsing. InPrivate Browsing in Internet Explorer 8 helps prevent your browsing history, temporary Internet files, form data, cookies, and usernames and passwords from being retained by the browser, leaving no evidence of your browsing or search history. (~This feature is known as Incognito in Google Chrome~)

Overall, this is a highly recommended update for IE7, even though you’ll find some sites aren’t displayed properly.

Google’s brand new Open Source browser is extremely Light Weight & Fast. The browser loads even faster than Internet Explorer in my Windows XP machine & doesn’t really take up much memory. Each tab is allocated separate memory blocks in the Computer’s RAM, thus there is less chance of browser hangs, memory leaks and so on. Most importantly – it has very nice Google Integration – You can create desktop shortcuts for Google Services like Gmail, Google calender etc. You can also search google directly from the address bar, access your most visited websites, visit web in *spy* mode etc.

Try it today, and you’ll forget all other web browsers that ever exisited: Download Google Chrome
