Anyone of you know the existance of this, or even use it?

A friend of mine was asking me, you don’t have a pendrive and you are still running around doing your work. And not to mention, you have your old documents even way back 5-6 years ago (Form 5 assignment anyone? Add Maths?) and was wondering, even with emails, it will be a clutter to keep it tidy.

Then, another friend of mine complain that she lost all her assignments when she forgotten to backup her work into her external hdd when she formatted her laptop. And I told her I still have all my works since Form 5, or in other words, in senior high school. So, I introduce to them, Google Docs.

Now, what is it all about. Google Docs is your portable, anywhere available, as long as you have a PC and Internet connection, with a Google Acc (blogger, Gmail, Google itself, Youtube?) and you can start doing your work without the needs of Ms Office. Cool eh?

So, go get one then, or I mean, use them to your full potential. I know I am, since I’m running around the uni without pendrives for my assignments and do not risk losing my pendrive (well, I finally lost one, which was stupid as it was my first time bringing it. Idiot. *smacks own head*)

H1N1(A), typhoon, and tsunami. Recently, a lot of natural disaster has happened, and many people suffer. I even heard from friends they are receiving text messages on their cellphone regarding when this disaster will hit. Some kind of predictions? I have no idea but if this was a hoax, someone has to stop doing so, because it involves lots of process, as well as many things which has to be taken in consideration, but still, better be safe than sorry right?

Somehow the hazy around Kuching and further has really gone away after a really hearty heavy downpour yesterday. Sad it never lasted, even I got soaked under it. >_<

Mooncake festival came and go, nothing much to shout about, only that Friendship park was flooded with people while I was at somewhere else having fun partying instead.

Hari Raya also came and went. Had a last open house invitation to my dad’s friend’s house, who I just found out was a descendant from our “Father of Malaysia”, Tunku Abdul Rahman. Not bad, except I cannot see any resemblance. Owh well. Least they were very humble and easy-going.

What else….. Owh, and Swinburne Sports Carnival is back. (Trying not to mention anything Swinburne related but it ended up a failure instead. Haha.)

One more thing, welcome back from the mid-semester break Degree and Diploma undergrads. For those who didn’t had the holiday, yours will come.

Cheers.

Somehow, its quite interesting reading it. I have been browsing through the board, and finding little stuff which is quiite interesting as well as true. Heck, they even have “Invest in Malaysia” and “Buy Malaysia”. I think Google has us in their eyes. Probably wanting to take over our MSC as its one potential technology to them?

View the Google Master Plan

I know its old but still interesting. Apparently some part of it has been erased off.

Space elevator… Now that sounds interesting.

Well, seems that the campus ground has been flooded relatively quite badly. Either its me or seems that the foundation classes has started, hence the flood. Or am I mistaken?

Traffic jams have gotten heavier. Luckily there are still many parking lots available early in the morning, as early as 8.30am at the multi-lot car park. Somehow coming late has its advantages also. Save me from contributing more CO2 into the air as I’m not stuck in a jam. Aside from having to wait for slowpokes who are driving up the multi-lot carpark rams at a slow pace (sorry if you are one of them. Been driving up and down those rams for years already, so far, nothing eventful, cept for a girl’s car which got stuck between the divider down the ram, nothing for me).

Speed bumps seems to be lower already, or was it cause there is less fuel in my car’s tank? Lol. Or all the ‘klunks’ and ‘kinks’ has scrapped some asphalt off it. Guess the management isn’t doing anything about it. Anyone want to start a petition? Grab siggys from all the drivers and smack it into their faces >D. *just giving suggestion. Anything which happens from this suggestion has nothing to do with me, unless you want to grab a siggy from me, I’m fine with that*

What else….. Owh, hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend (3 days! due to Merdeka celebration and our country’s celebration of its independence). Btw, do watch this video Ne…? on youtube. Very meaningful. Still shows us how Malaysians are still friendly and willing to help people (okay, honestly, I’m more of a pro-Sarawak person but I still love my country). Enjoy it video and have a good laugh also. I wonder if Mr. Rodney will watch it… *bugs Mr. Rodney who’s just beside*

Okay! Time to go for lunch before my next class marathon! Tara~

I hate it. With standard suspension for my car, the undercarriage still hits the speed bump. And that is only me in my car, which barely have anything extra (aside from the fuel and my bag with books). And the management said that the speed bumps are road standard. What road standard? Heck. If it was of road standard, no one will leave scrap marks on the asphalt. Pfft. Probably because the contractors are driving huge fuel guzzeling 4×4, they never get any problems.

Now I really wonder if the “klunks” and metal grinding sound will be here to stay or the management will do something about it.

Welcome back everyone. And welcome to those new to Swinburne Sarawak.

How has your week been? The week has nearly ended and I still see chaos happening around the campus, especially the first floor of Block G.

Anyway, seeing Swinburne getting flooded with more people, from different backgrounds and ethnicity, it is good to have a multi-racial environment where everyone co-exist in peace and harmony, though we’re all stranger to each other. Even a simple smile or nod would spark a beautiful friendship which goes a long way.

Other than that, I see people doing stuff in the Open Labs, working or researching or something else, I have no idea but seems still jam packed as usual.

New cafeteria has opened up, and sadly, I totally forgotten to take a snap when I did lug my camera around with me *smacks self*. Food is nice and recommended. Weird thing is, we have two (2) waffer and corn.. I’ll just call it a snack bar, competing. Hey, it is good to have competition. Keeps quality standard high and price low. *Economics 101*

Renovations happening around, and new stuff being setup. Somehow the atmosphere is getting a good start for this term. And for those who didn’t know, the bookstore is open for business. Give it a visit.

Glad the heavy gloomy downpour lasting for months has finally left, well, I was feeling torturous for the past one month due to the rain (was in Selangor for 1 month so not much rain).

Bah, it poured again for less than an hour.

Hey, welcome to Kuching. A place of wacky weather.

Cheers and happy studying!

Now that two campaigns have already posted their intros and slogans, I found it note worthy to remind them a few things:

Guys! We, as Swinburne Students, are tired of just listening to aimless slogans, which would be definitely forgotten or could not be fulfilled after you got elected! They are very very general and do not point to a certain problem! Let me justify my thought:

Let’s start with Alex’s:
They have come up with the following general slogans:

1. To be proactive, responsive, communicative, more transparent, and an effective advocate for the students.
(What do you mean by proactive, communicative, transparent and effective? How do you want to be like that? Describe your programs)
2. Encourage a co-operative approach to learning, living, and working together in the school community.
(Again how? Let’s say today is your first day in office! How would you start your program?)
3. Be student medium in which they can channel their views and voice their opinions.
(It is exactly the same slogan for almost every campaign, currently and in the past! Highlight your different method of bringing it to reality, if you have any!?)
4. Solve issues/problems that students have by encouraging students to participate in open meetings & discussion. (Sounds like a good idea. Describe it in detail! I’m sure you are not gonna have a meeting with 2000 students!)

5. Organize more exciting and meaningful events for students. (Like? How?)

6. Forge a closer tie among local and international students.(Hey! you do not have even one international student in your campaign! How can you claim this?)

I can see the same problems in the girls campaign’s slogans.
We do not really want to see another boring (Sorry current SSSC!) club, which is just carrying the name of Swinburne Sarawak Students Council, but is actually Swinburne Sarawak Few Students Council! I do appreciate former clubs’ hard efforts, but there are still lots of problems you guys are expected to address! The long procedure of establishing a club and getting SSSC’s financial help is one of our main issues. As a committee member of International Students club, I have personally witnessed this hectic thing when we were arranging International Students Cultural Night.

Once more, avoid historic slogans and come up with something new! Not general, but specific.

Speaking on my own behalf, I would not vote for a group which does not describe its program specifically .

Thank you

I always thought that garbage is just one of the pollution factors. Environment maintenance isn’t really my field of interest. However, I am pretty awed to know that garbage isn’t entirely useless.

Some of the garbage can be recycled, some cannot. Recycling materials only enables us to reuse. On the biological part, garbage enzyme is more “multi-purpose-ful”. Refer to here.

It can be used as cleaning fluid, soil fertilizer, natural pesticide and herbicide, anti-bacteria agent, as well as foul odor remover.

Somehow, garbage just do not seem to be in a positive relationship with all the four uses above. But hey, it’s true.

It’s easy to make garbage enzyme. All you need is water, organic kitchen waste, the black sugar found in 3-layer teh c peng, and an air-tight container of any preferred size.

The ingredients ratio as follows:

Sugar : Organic Waste : Water

1 : 3 : 10

By the way, you do not have to be so precise and calculative.

Leave the solution sealed tight for 3 months, and the solution is ready for usage. It might be a little disgusting to make use of decomposed organic waste, but the results are good. Start making a bottle at the beginning of a semester and you can spare some money on mosquito repellent during midnight study before final exam.

On a side note, organic waste does not include humans and animals’ biological waste.

So, who wants to start using the liquid as repellent? It’s a odor remover, so it shouldn’t be that smelly.
