It was possible thanks to the suggestions made in SSSC council’s forum and also many supports from the students themselves. Being one of the winner(2nd) myself with a new recruited veteran team, it proofs our standards in Sarawak with many great players that came far out from the top16 bracket. Thanks for Cyberline Cyber Cafe’s endorsement and for Swinburne to approve the first epic e-sports event ever!

A friend of mine was asking me, you don’t have a pendrive and you are still running around doing your work. And not to mention, you have your old documents even way back 5-6 years ago (Form 5 assignment anyone? Add Maths?) and was wondering, even with emails, it will be a clutter to keep it tidy.

Then, another friend of mine complain that she lost all her assignments when she forgotten to backup her work into her external hdd when she formatted her laptop. And I told her I still have all my works since Form 5, or in other words, in senior high school. So, I introduce to them, Google Docs.

Now, what is it all about. Google Docs is your portable, anywhere available, as long as you have a PC and Internet connection, with a Google Acc (blogger, Gmail, Google itself, Youtube?) and you can start doing your work without the needs of Ms Office. Cool eh?

So, go get one then, or I mean, use them to your full potential. I know I am, since I’m running around the uni without pendrives for my assignments and do not risk losing my pendrive (well, I finally lost one, which was stupid as it was my first time bringing it. Idiot. *smacks own head*)

This time round, it appears to be a slightly different compare to previous years. Students get to vote INDIVIDUALS instead of voting candidates as a TEAM. For some, definitely it is odd. There are quite a number of candidates this time, the last I checked was about 10 but I think the number has increased.(sorry, not really sure about it) If you are an avid user of Facebook and in the Swinburne Sarawak Network, you get to see them trying to get support from their friends. Just search around for ’sssc’ or ‘election’ and you’ll find them.

Honestly speaking, I don’t really care who is going to be in the council next year. All I hope is that the next batch is able to utilise the forum well. I know, its kinda sad that this coming from the *ahem*admin*ahem* of the forum. Sorry lar, I’m the kind of admin/moderator that is more into moderating, rather than making the place active, lively, full of noise(if you get what I mean). Seriously, the forum is beneficial for both the council and the students. I do really hope it can become part of every Swinburne student’s life just like BlackBoard.

I know, most of the students couldn’t be bothered by this matter because its like what…week 13??? Finals in two weeks time??!!! For foundation peeps, its even closer!!! Well, nobody is forcing you to participate and you are not doing the wrong thing on concentrating on your finals either, so good luck in that

Electronic sports, abbreviated e-sports or eSports, is used as a general term to describe the play of electronic games competitively. Other terms include competitive gaming, cybersports, cyber athletics (used by the CPL) and V-Sports (used by the GGL).

These games which are considered electronic sports normally belong to the They are played competitively at both amateur and professional levels. Professional levels are played competitively at the professional league and tournament.

Advantages of playing in LAN(local-area network)

Playing over a LAN has a number of advantages: the network conditions are much better suited to playing computer games than on the Internet, and when the competitors are in the same building it is a lot harder to cheat without someone knowing (at professional events administrators will normally be present to ensure fair play). It is also a much more social atmosphere. Due to the advantages of LAN many gamers organize Lan parties or visit LAN centres(cyber cafes or venue) and major tournaments are always conducted over LANs.

Sarawak E-sports progression

It has been slowly moving towards the era where KL and Sabah are currently at. Many colleges and universities from KL states have been organising this sort of tournament in advance showing the culture of technology advancement. Sarawak will need to push themselves forward if they were to give more exposure and also to adept to other high-level countries with cybersports athletics. PC games puts a student or a gamer into an area where they put their skills and mind strategies in order to tackle with another opponent.

The reason why competitions are made is the same as how the hundred years formed Olympic existed. E-sports has just started their very own pace at the late 2000s. Why not for Sarawak state? Think about getting a group of friends and explore the wilderness of games within the 2000s millenium. The main purpose is to let more and more people accept their mindset towards e-sports. Cyber cafe with certain recognitions will have to do their part in this e-sports scene as well as parts contributed and approved by colleges and universities in the state itself. Governments should really focus on analyzing e-sports and uniqueness. My humbly advise is to hope that everyone gets adepted to a new and yet realistic world we’re gonna face not just normal sports! To include, it has its pros and cons and it’s up to the people to realise the potential it brings in market and of course a new bred community. The better for the e-sports industry and era be risen!

Somehow the hazy around Kuching and further has really gone away after a really hearty heavy downpour yesterday. Sad it never lasted, even I got soaked under it. >_<

Mooncake festival came and go, nothing much to shout about, only that Friendship park was flooded with people while I was at somewhere else having fun partying instead.

Hari Raya also came and went. Had a last open house invitation to my dad’s friend’s house, who I just found out was a descendant from our “Father of Malaysia”, Tunku Abdul Rahman. Not bad, except I cannot see any resemblance. Owh well. Least they were very humble and easy-going.

What else….. Owh, and Swinburne Sports Carnival is back. (Trying not to mention anything Swinburne related but it ended up a failure instead. Haha.)

One more thing, welcome back from the mid-semester break Degree and Diploma undergrads. For those who didn’t had the holiday, yours will come.

Somehow, its quite interesting reading it. I have been browsing through the board, and finding little stuff which is quiite interesting as well as true. Heck, they even have “Invest in Malaysia” and “Buy Malaysia”. I think Google has us in their eyes. Probably wanting to take over our MSC as its one potential technology to them?
