You dare?? you want??

By yongtiongyieng

Hello, this is my ever first post in this blog. Knowing that many of you, Swinburnians are stressful with your never ending assignments and workloads, here is something for you all to sit back, have a cup of coffee and have a good laugh.

If you are given a FREE sitting for one of these airlines, which air stewardess would you perfer to serve you??”

“So, done with your laughing?….Back to reality now…**Assignments!!**” :P

  3. This did not make me laugh.

It’s terrible of you and shameful that there’s such a post like this on Swintalk.

How can you call this funny? I’m very certain there are much better ways to make other people laugh than to put pictures of transvestites or transsexuals. This is sheer discrimination. These people are also human beings with feelings. Why don’t you put extremely ugly pictures of men and say “Which of these men would you want as a husband???” perhaps?

This is such an utterly disgusting post and frankly, just shows what a low level of mentality you have.

  4. What actually made me laugh was what you actually decide to include in your first post on SwinTalk. Explains so much! =\

  6. Wah.. First post already kena bombarded.. Let’s not hurt each other’s feeling..

A blog is a place of “speech freedom”, but let’s not get carried away, and control our word usage..

    That’s such a direct scolding, swing.. @_@

    Ouchies..

  8. @swing: wow…aiseh… seems like there’s a little dispute here. Not to add on fire, but to share out my personal thoughts.

I personally think that this post is placed in the right category -Random Rambling- by the writer. And there’s surely a purpose to place in such category i believe. And according to Oxford Dic, “Random” basically means done without deliberate purpose or choice. And “Rambling” means type or write in a confused way. So in my opinion, there’s nothing wrong of posting this post in such category.

Everyone can view on this post in two different dimensions. Either in the positive or in the negative. Let’s say: If you (swing) are to sit on any airline whereby you do not anticipate for such air stewardess in the plane, and out of your shock, there are these your so-called “transvestite and transsexual” hostess serve you in the plane, surely your instant reaction is to back off and try to keep away from these people yea? Yes, I believe everyone will do so too. Perhaps not everyone, but some of us. It’s our natural reaction. Because we tend to have such reaction. It’s normal. Cos we are not used to it. True?

Bring it to a point, don’t you think this is also your so called “discrimination” indirectly when you react in backing off?…. i believe it is indeed.

In short, different people view things in their own dimension. Perhaps you view it in your own. The writer views based on her own. And i view based on my own. The readers view this post based on their own. But i believe, neither you nor me, or any other deserve to bring a judgment to this writer, or to any writer here and condemn them. Simply ‘cos every writer of this swintalk.com deserves a chance to try out to post something on their own fav topic. More to say, this post is posted in the “random rambling” category. So, no one actually takes to heart, but you. Yea? =P

After all, i think as quoted by you “This is such an utterly disgusting post and frankly, just shows what a low level of mentality you have.”

No one deserves such comment. Your comment (sentence) paint a picture of your inner you to every reader’s mind now, i believe.

Okay okay. Enough of my loso-ness. LOL…

    **assignments..stress….badminton. arrr***

johnsonwoan on 29 September 2008 at 12:16 am
  9. @johnsonwoan, I believe what swing meant as discriminatory is how this post is written in the first place. Consider this: The poster assembled a series of pictures of transvestites / transsexuals and paraded them as laughing stock intended to the ‘entertainment’ of ‘Swinburnians (who) are stressful with (their) never ending assignments and workloads’.

And if you would read through the comments, people are indeed backing off.

This post is as such, insensitive to those unfortunate individuals who are born with such differences as those shown in the pictures above. It is originally meant to ‘laugh’ at them, if I may say so, and there are comments of some opting to avoid them.

Swing could’ve put it in a more less-offending way but she does have a point.

@yongtiongyieng, No problem. I wish the same to you and your future postings. As much as we appreciate your efforts to entertain us, we do also appreciate if you be a little more sensitive to what you post.

I was admittedly, rather taken back when SwinTalk greeted me flat in the face of pictures of transsexuals. =\ If I may sound so sarcastic in my previous comment, I apologise.

Till then, keep your posts coming in!

And those people don’t deserve to be made a laughing stock either.

Imagine if it was your child and despite who your child is and that they were born like that, despite your efforts otherwise, any honest and sincerely caring parent would not like their children to be made fun of. It’s highly offending, insulting, shaming and plain demeaning! It’s one thing if you mention this in private or amongst people you know, but it’s another thing when I come to Swintalk and see this.

And for your information, if I were to sit on an airline and encounter such a person, perhaps I might be a bit surprised. But if the person was reasonably pretty, friendly, courteous and polite and served me well on the plane, I would not mind! I would definitely prefer the person over some pretty hot hostess who doesn’t greet you with a smile nor pay attention to your needs!

The point is, I would treat these people like humans and look at them in a more personal way instead of perhaps going “Oh crap, it’s a tranny, RUN!!!” There are a lot of better looking transvestites and transsexuals than a lot of girls out there, please your view is so narrow! DO NOT assume everyone would back off like you, and neither should you assume that my reaction would be like yours.

Some of these people are really wonderful, warm, and really kind souls. It is not wrong to defend potentially good, kind people, despite how they might look is it? Is it alright for you to have this kind of attitude and thinking? They are also god’s creatures as well.

Johnson said, “Your comment (sentence) paint a picture of your inner you to every reader’s mind now, i believe.”

Yes, my inner me does not believe in making fun or laughing at people who just happen to be different to what you’re used to, on a public blog like Swintalk. And I believe you think I am insulting her intelligence, which is not the case, otherwise I might have just called her a dumb, stupid cow. Do you know the meaning of mentality or not? Mentality is mindset. I believe in posting a post where appropriate. And I believe that this kind of post should NOT be here. Your comments just paint you as an even worse person than me because apparently you’re just some really biased, prejudiced and discriminatory person and I can’t believe this is how a god-fearing, understanding person should be like. John4God? Please, find it within yourself whether your stance is the right and just one.

I find nothing wrong in voicing out my thoughts, because this is a public blog for all Swinburne students. I just would not like it to become a blog that’s full of trash-talking about transvestites or transsexuals. If I am found wrong for this, then there must be something very wrong with the world. And the poster herself can very well defend her view responsibly without you having to jump in and be the so-called “knight-in-shining-armor”, she is not a child and this is not primary school anymore.

There’s a reason why even forums have moderation. Ms. Yong, sorry if I sounded harsh, but from your response, you have shown some maturity, very well indeed. But it still doesn’t change my stand. I just hope that in the future you can put up more well-formed and well-thought out content, which would be just wonderful. In the end, my comment is meant to give feedback with the aim of hoping that there would be less posts like these on Swintalk.

    Your english is fine.

If you want to comment or post, expect a reply. Especially if you write online instead of in a diary in your bedroom.

Perhaps what you might have wanted to hear was,

“HAHAHA~!!! So farney la!!!! Dis ppl looks so stupid n ugly!!! So kanasai 1 d face, even my grandma looks better!! Ew~ I can’t believe got such ppl la. Wah, wat kind of airlines wan hire so ugly wan~???? Veli nice post! Make me laugh 1!!! =) ”

I should have written that, then my character or ‘inner me’ wouldn’t be questioned or apparently evoke the recycled “Don’t think you are better than other ppl” response to justify another person’s actions in making fun of transvestites or transsexuals. If your son becomes a transvestite and ppl make fun of them in a similar way, I wonder if you’d mind someone telling you the same when you try to defend him. Or are you just going to let them make fun of him and let him commit suicide out of shame?

swing on 30 September 2008 at 3:25 pm
  20. April : thanks for dropping comment…should come to swintalk more often hehe…

ToMCaT : they juz voice out their comments…hehe…i already call the firemen…Dun worry is ok…:)

    =__=
i think is the time to leave this post alone lol

well..if my son is a ponda and ppl laugh at him, make fun of him or whatever, i believe he won go commit suicide bcos he will be as strong as his mother…
i also don like ppl making fun of transsexuals, but there is the way for u to comment if u not agree, as i said before…
and i don understand why u need to be so…mad about this post?
just take it cool… my bf is very sissy boy and i have A LOT of transsexuals friends, and i don like ppl make fun of them, but see, i take it cool..

u r in debate club rite??
    errmm..no wonder…
    so..whatever…
leave this post alone..or u wanna keep fight about ur opinion….
    i take it cool..

April on 1 October 2008 at 12:06 am
  22. @april: Meh, I’m certainly taking it coolly. I understand that there are people who wouldn’t understand my viewpoint even if it is the right one. I am just very strong on things I believe in and would vocalize it. It’s like, you can be friends, but even friends have their own opinions and wouldn’t agree on every single thing. Unless you mean groupie….then that’s different. It’s so basic really.

Nope, not in debaters club, where the heck did you pull that from? Your source is ph41l and !!! My heart wouldn’t be able to stand it, I think. .____.’

It’s cool lah. I don’t care that much really anyways. Maybe some of you just not exposed to this kind of talk I guess(still very green~~). It’s just comments, if ya wanna like, take it to heart and think I’m evil, go ahead if it makes you happy. >:3 But I’ll really think that’s silly.

XD; Oh come on, I wouldn’t seriously dislike a person for their posts or comments unless they’re totally nonsense, and if they’re like totally evil and warped human beings.

swing on 1 October 2008 at 1:00 am
  23. i said oledi..leave this post alone..and whatever u think…
and im not silly, means i don take it to the heart and i don think u r evil…

  24. Eeeee! Ah yieng’s first post! Should I say welcome? lol…..

This is how I really hope swintalk should be, a post with lots of comments. It shows the “activeness” of our dear bloggers =D

Personally, If one does something, there will always be a reply – karma (I’m not saying you have done a bad thing ah, Ah yieng) Viewers for sure will reply back base on HOW they view it, WHAT do they really think about it and most importantly, they view things base on their own beliefs or culture. Especially when comes to blog, we can always see such feedbacks and such feedbacks are usually more on a personal point of view rather than just a general statement. Thus we(posters) should be responsible of what we have posted and dare to face what others would say about it. Most importantly, dare to defend your own viewpoint as well. We shouldn’t take things too personally and argue “healthily”.

It is true that this post is an issue of discriminatory(sorry ah yieng), but after all, it’s just a post, live still goes on. So MEH!

I’m saying from a neutral stance btw, not standing on either sides.

*continue reads on with the next post*
